Hasan K. Rezakhani
From a young age, I have always been interested in science fiction movies and TV shows of any kind. I am always fascinated by the ideas about the future of science that they present on the screen. The Matrix trilogy, for example, is one of my favorite movies of all time and I have watched it over 30 times and have read a lot about it. After the first time I watched The Matrix, I found myself encountering the question what if we could create a full Matrix-level immersion in Virtual Reality? Now after years of experiencing 3D Computer Graphics and other related fields, I realized that I should devote my research work to it. Obviously, I want to stay in Wonderland, and I learn how deep the rabbit hole goes.
In general, I believe that virtual reality and immersive design will have a significant impact on many aspects of our behavior and interactions, and they have the potential to revolutionize the way we design and communicate. As virtual reality environments are temporary places that we can visit for as long as we desire or are permitted to, it is important that they replicate the physical characteristics of our world that are suitable for life in the virtual world. Therefore, I propose that incorporating realistic features into the creation of virtual reality environments can enhance the user experience. My Ph.D. proposal is focused on exploring how realistic features of the real world can improve the quality of virtual reality experiences and eventually categorize them based on their influence level.
In February 2015, I completed my Master’s Degree in Photography at the University of Tehran. My thesis topic was Studying the Role of 3D Computer Simulation in Generating Photorealistic Images. I have always had an interest in interdisciplinary research, and that is why I selected this topic. My aim was to bring 3D Computer Graphics into the Photography realm.
I am currently working as a lecturer at the University of Applied Science and Technology and also pursuing my passion as a VR artist. With over 20 years of experience in the field of 2D and 3D Computer Graphics, I have gained extensive knowledge and skills.
Research Interests
In this phase of my life, I am interested in analyzing virtual and simulated environments both theoretically and experimentally. Specifically, I am focusing on exploring photorealistic virtual reality images to understand how they can impact our perception of reality.

VR Fusion at Tehran ACM SIGGRAPH
December 4, 2016, Tehran, Iran
I had the opportunity to deliver a speech at an event called VR Fusion, which was organized by Tehran ACM SIGGRAPH. The event took place at The University of Tehran, College of Engineering. The speech was about the future of virtual reality. I discussed the current state of the art in VR devices, such as headsets, and haptics, and the challenges and opportunities for improving their performance, and comfort. I also explored the emerging trends and innovations in VR content creation and consumption, such as immersive storytelling, and photorealistic rendering. I shared my vision and predictions for how VR will transform various domains and industries, such as education, and entertainment.
